Solo bike trip to Bogatha Waterfalls , The Niagara of Telangana

Bogatha, The Niagara of Telangana

Bogatha waterfalls is the second-largest waterfalls of Telangana, located in Cheekupally steam, Mulugu district, 140 km from Warangal and 300 km from Hyderabad. This is one of the best destinations if you are planning a trip for a weekend with your family. Though it was discovered long back, after the Telangana state formation, with the idea of improving the tourism, the facilities and the transportation have improved considerably at the waterfalls. It has now renowned as the Niagara of Telangana.  If you are looking to spend 2 days in a pleasant and peaceful environment, then Bogatha should be your destination and don’t forget to book a Haritha resort at Ramappa or Laknavaram lake.

I started my solo journey early at 6 in the morning. Though I thought of doing the next stay, I didn’t book any hotel since I was traveling alone and was sure of finding some hotel. I took a break for the breakfast in Warangal and started my trip with a thousand pillar temple which is located in heart of the city. On the way to Bogatha, the following are the places you could visit for a 2-day trip:

1.      Katakshapur Lake: 32 km before Mulugu, on the right side, a lake welcomes you with its beautiful grass shore and clear water. With its scenic beauty, it could delay your plans considerably.

2.       Ramappa Temple and Lake: The lake is among the prominent reservoirs built by Kakatiya rulers. On the way to Bogatha waterfalls, we have to deviate 10 km from Bogatha road to reach the Ramappa temple. The reservoir and the lake are the best tourist attractions. You are lucky if you get a room at Harita Lakeview resorts.

Laknavaram Lake: One of the biggest lakes built by Kakatiya rulers, the lake facilitates boating and  other camping programs. The lake is located at Jaishankar Bhupalpally district, and the Telangana govt has renovated the lake in world-class infrastructure with the cable bridge, food stalls, boating, and camping events. The lake is around 11 km from the Jangalapally village.

4.       Medaram: A popular place in Mulugu district known for the Sammakka, Saralamma jatara, the biggest tribal festival in Asia attended by over 2 crore visitors. The place is situated in the womb of Eturunagaram forests.

5.       Bogatha waterfalls: The waterfalls are around 50km from the Medaram temple, you will be crossing a bridge of over 1 km in length built on Godavari lake. The facility for the night stay is not yet available at Bogatha waterfalls, hence people come back to Tadvai, Laknavaram, or Ramappa for the stay. The visiting time ends by 5.00PM, so plan accordingly.

Along with the above-mentioned places, you could also visit Pakala lake, a prestigious Kaleshwaram project, the largest multi-phase lift irrigation project in the world.
