Gayatri waterfalls, the beauty unexplored...

Gayatri waterfalls, the beauty unexplored...

Discovered recently, Gayatri waterfalls is one of the highest and most beautiful waterfalls I have been to. This is located in the Adilabad district of Telangana. Around 300kms from Hyderabad, one has to go to Ichoda village and drive 22 km from the highway to reach the place. With very little to no information on the net, this place attracted me in the first hint itself.

It is not an easy way to go there, and if you are a solo traveler and planning there alone, think again… The place is very difficult to reach and one has to trek into the valley of over 100+ ft to reach the waterfalls. As per localities, there were a few fatal accidents while trekking, so it is always better to have an experienced person around you to guide you.

Trust me, this is one way to reach the waterfalls

There are two ways to trek to reach the waterfalls. One on vertical hills, which is very narrow and one wrong step could lead to heaven, the good point here is that you won't have to face poisonous snakes, insects, and other wild things.

The other way is through getting down in the forest, where you would encounter different kinds of insects, lizards, snakes, etc.  Being Acrophobiac, and being solo with a helmet in one hand, I thought, I wouldn’t be able to take the vertical path, so I chose the latter way. It took me more than 45 minutes to reach, and the view of the giant waterfalls is definitely worth the hardship. It is always advisable to take a first-aid kit along on this trip.

An easy way too, but look for poisonous insects

There are no good hotels or restaurants and food courts nearby, and you would have to go back to Kuntala waterfalls or Adilabad for hotels. You can also book Haritha resort which is in Jannaram. On the way, you will find some good hotels in towns like Nirmal too.

More than 20km off-road, It is not suggested to take any car with low ground clearance, there were a lot of mud path-holes and water pathways that you need to cross that makes the trip quite adventurous.

If you are a group of 3-4 youngsters who like the adventurous trip, then this place is for you. Be cautious while you are on this trip, there are people waiting for you at home and checking your vehicle condition and also your attitude since over-confidence always leads to accidents.

Not one or two, but you will find at least 5 times on your way, and much bigger too...

Planning:

I have been to Kuntala and Pocchera waterfalls a couple of times, and hence I planned my one-day trip with only Gayatri waterfalls in mind. But I would suggest you, plan a two-day trip, where you could visit Kuntala, Pochera, and also spend some time shopping at Nirmal on the way.

Around 300 km on NH7, Nagpur highway, the lush green highways, and the best roads of Telangana, you will be able to reach Ichoda in 6 hours, from there, it takes 60-75 mins to reach the waterfalls and around 3 hours for trekking. So if you are planning a two-day trip, start early on Saturday to reach Gayatri waterfalls. By evening, you will be able to reach back to Ichoda, if you have energy left, visit Pocchera and enjoy the evening. Cover Kuntala, and Nirmal and you will be able to reach back to Hyderabad by Sunday evening.

When the road is this beautiful, you need to put effort into a lower speed
